The first overall pick of the 2012 NBA Draft, Anthony Davis was having a breakout year for the New Orleans Pelicans. The 20-year-old was showing his ability to dominate inside and was averaging 19.6 points 10.6 rebounds, and 3.9 blocks per game for the Pelicans. He was shooting 50.2 % from the floor, and had the second highest PER in the NBA at 28.6 (trailing only LeBron James at 30.5). It appeared that nothing could slow down the unibrow, as he established himself as one of the NBA’s best young players.
You could say things were almost going too well for the former Kentucky Wildcat, that was until the injury bug hit during Sunday’s game against the New York Knicks. Davis left the game late in the first quarter after taking a charge from Amar’e Stoudemire, he did not return.
After the game the Pelicans made the following announcement on his status.
Anthony Davis suffered a non-displaced fracture in his left hand. He will not return tonight. A timetable for his return is TBD

The injury means that Pelicans power forward Ryan Anderson will likely see more minutes during Davis’ absence. However the team is in tough as it is near impossible for them to replace the All-NBA level play that Davis was providing early this season.
The Pelicans ended up wining the game 103-99 to improve to 8-8 on the season. The team will try to stay competitive in the tough Western Conference playoff race until they can get their best player back.
I’m sure many Pelicans fans hope he’ll be able to play in the all-star game in New Orleans this year.
