It was a bit touch-and-go for the latter part of the second half, but Arsenal’s quality shone through against the home side, Cardiff City, on Saturday afternoon.
In front of a vocal crowd, Arsenal came out of the gates early, with their #10 hitting the crossbar/post corner only minutes into the contest. For much of the first half, the visiting men in yellow flirted with the 18 yard box, making dashing runs and crisp passing. It was a beautiful pass from Mesut Ozil that found the head of Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey that put the visitors up a goal, which they never relinquished.
Despite some great football from Cardiff in the second half, the win was complete after a beautiful strike from Mathieu Flamini after another great set-up from Ozil, the BPL’s leading assist man. And then for good measure, Ramsey completed the brace, scoring in extra time.
For Arsenal, it has been a great season so far and their away record speaks volumes. The confidence in which they are playing is at such a high level that it is legitimately possible that they can carry on into the new year.
Final score, Cardiff 0 – 3 Arsenal.
