Was Sunday night more of the Broncos shooting themselves in the foot, or Captain America up to his old antics? Or maybe a little from column A, a little from B? In any case, in a shocking come from behind win, the Patriots defended their home turf against the Denver Mannings on Sunday Night Football.
After a few horrendous blunders early in the game, the Pats were being destroyed by the West Coast team, and went into the locker room at half down 3 touchdowns and a field goal. What I wouldn’t give to have seen Belichick in the locker room for his speech to the troops.
Anyway, the second half was much the opposite as New England were the ones benefiting from some costly turnovers, and by the end of the third quarter, had rallied to bring it back within a score. The writing was on the wall. Brady was happy.
Peyton was resilient, kind of, and tied it up late sending it into overtime. But a very unlucky bounce off a kick which hit a Broncos player gave the ball to the Pats deep in Bronco country. The game was iced with a NE field goal. Game, set, match.
Patriots 34 – Broncos 31. Ouch.
