The extremely pacey Spanish winger has finally opened his account for Manchester City – in sublime style I hasten to add.
Jesus netted a brace in City’s recent demolition of Spurs; the first of which coming in the first 14 seconds of the match. As City pressed straight from the off Spurs were subdued into passing the ball all the way back to Hugo Lloris, who has recently been praised for being the best keeper in the competition. However, the Spurs keeper’s low clearance landed straight into the path of the in form Sergio Aguero. He majestically galloped a few paces and shot. Lloris parried. Jesus Navas, as if from nowhere, sprang onto the free ball and hit it first time, bending it into the far post with his right foot. Account opened.
I have so much confidence in Navas that I made the bold decision to replace Yaya Toure for him in my fantasy football team. I have no doubt that Jesus will retain his first team place ahead of James Milner and Samir Nasri. Not only is Navas better than his Man City team mates, but he, in my opinion, is the best winger in the league. He played with pace and skill and often whipped in tasty crosses when he played in Spain and he has brought all these talents to England. His pace is second to none. He could even leave a fit Theo Walcott in a cloud of dust. And only Steven Gerrard and Leighton Bains can send in a better cross than Jesus.
Although his defensive play lets him down, he does his best to run back. Jesus fits perfectly into Manuel Pelligrini’s team and I predict a very fruitful season for him and City.
