From Last Word on Soccer, by Matt Pollard and Joe Hojnacki
(October 14, 2016) – Greetings fellow hoot owls! This week on Last Word SC Radio, Matt Pollard and Joe Hojnacki have a Last Word SC #AfterDark episode. We talk about CONCACAF, Bob Bradley‘s new resume booster, and MLS playoff madness.
Last Word SC: CONCACAF Rebrand, Bob Bradley the Swan, and MLS Decision Day Part Uno
First off, the lads talk about CONCACAF’s plan to get their stuff together. We’re talking a potential renaming (does anyone really remember what CONCACAF stands for anyways?), as well as a changing of the World Cup and CCL format. Matt and Joe discuss the pros and cons. They spitball some ideas for how they could change things up. CCL group stage with four teams each? Having the entire tournament in the same calendar year? Plus, who knows how WCQ could change. Especially if FIFA decides to expand the World Cup beyond 32 teams.
Then the guys discuss Bob Bradley getting his Swan on. If you haven’t heard, Bradley is the new coach at Swansea City. The guys discuss how huge this is for American Soccer and why they think he will succeed there. Most importantly, just don’t get relegated. This is a HUGE change for American Soccer to show England and Europe that their players and coaches are undervalued. Go get ’em Bob.
Lastly, the boys review the USMNT friendlies, midweek MLS matches, and talk about the MLS Cup Playoff Wildcard race.
This episode is crazy, just like MLS and CONCACAF. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
