Verdict: Wow. What a signing. Barcelona has been looking, at Deulofeu’s request, for a club to send him to to help him mature with first-team football. Deulofeu wanted to go to an English club while Barcelona had second thoughts about the physicality of the Premier League. Many, many clubs wanted him. The list included Borussia Dortmund, Valencia, Sevilla, Liverpool, and the next closest contender, Tottenham Hotspur. However, after talking to Roberto Martinez, both Barcelona and the player knew where Deulofeu belonged. This is going to prove to be a fantastic signing for Everton this season. With the newly minted Arouna Kone adding a new dimension of striker up front, the pacey and in-form Kevin Mirallas on the right, and Deulofeu on the left, Evertons attacking force could be one of the most threatening in the league. If all goes well with this loan and Deulofeu matures the way Barcelona wants him to, humongous opportunities could open up for Everton to gain more loan deals for Barcelona starlets in the future.
