UFC Vancouver Gets Stacked Fox Card

It seems as though every year the UFC makes one of their Fox cards bigger than the others. Last year that title belonged to UFC Chicago. They had the anticipated rematch of then UFC Bantamweight Champion T.J. Dillashaw with Renan Barao. It also included Miesha Tate, Jessica Eye, Edson Barboza and Joe Lauzon. This year it appears that title will be going to UFC Vancouver.

The Main Event

It was announced earlier in the week that the highly anticipated fight between Demian Maia and Carlos Condit would be removed from UFC 202 and turned into the main event when the UFC heads north of the border for the second time this year. The fight was moved due to a lack of a main event for the card at Rogers Arena. This fight could very easily have #1 Contender written all over it. The winner of this could fight the winner of the Robbie LawlerTyron Woodley fight which takes place July 30th.

The Co-Main

The expected co-main will feature former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis as he makes his featherweight debut against Brazilian Charles Oliveira. Pettis is looking to snap the slide he has been on since losing his title to Rafael Dos Anjos in March 2015 at UFC 185. Meanwhile Oliveira (#7 Currently) looks to continue rising up the ranks of the featherweight division.

The Rest of the Card

This fight card will also see “12 Gauge” Paige VanZant. She returns to the octagon to take on “Rowdy” Bec Rawlings. VanZant is coming off a tough loss to top three women’s strawweight fighter Rose Namajunas. Rawlings on the other hand is coming off of a unanimous decision victory over Seo Hee Ham.

Fight fans will be treated something special as two UFC 200 winners will square off in a highly anticipated rematch when Jim Miller will take on Lauzon. Both men are coming off first round finishes as Miller TKO’d Takanori Gomi and Lauzon finished Diego Sanchez.

The other big name fight just announced sees “Smile’N” Sam Alvey will have a quick turnaround as he will fight “King “Kevin Casey. Alvey is coming off a very impressive first round submission win just a couple of weeks ago. Meanwhile, Casey may be on of the weirdest streaks you will ever see in the UFC. In his last three fights he is 0-1-1 with 1 no contest). His no contest was back in December of 2015 when an accidental eye poke with Antonio Carlos Jr. ended that fight eleven seconds in. He suffered a third round TKO loss to Rafael Natal a month later. Back in June at UFC 199, he ended up fighting to a draw with Elvis Mutapcic. He will certainly be looking to get back on the winning track.

Saturday night, August 27 will certainly not be one to miss. This Fox card is absolutely stacked with great fights, well known fighters and upcoming young talent.
