This week, the suddenly red hot NYCFC visit Sporting Kansas City looking for a 5th straight win. NYC has been strong on the road this year, but KC has a history of picking off points from Eastern teams, especially at home. Will NYC continue to roll or will KC start to turn their season around? Let’s see what the experts say:
Expert | Pick | Comments |
Joseph Goldstein |
SKC |
City has had the better attacking play this season, but a trip to KC will make them sputter. Sporting squeaks this one out. |
Eric Walcott |
NYC |
City have looked like an actual competent soccer team lately, especially on the road, but their defense still looks suspect. They’ll win, but they’ll need a high octane attack. |
Russ McKenzie |
SKC |
Win against the East is one thing. Winning against the West? This is a litmus test Viera’s 4-3-3 will not be able to pass yet. |
Matt Pollard |
DRAW |
SKC is looking for a second half surge to get into the playoffs. SKC will put in the better 90 minute performance, but a 1-1 draw will be a fair result. |
Daniel Sperry |
SKC |
SKC is finally on a good run again, outside of the Open Cup loss to a re-ignited Houston. Both teams are somewhat on the rise again, so it should make for a good match” |
Joe Hojnacki |
DRAW |
NYC’s winning run has to end sometime. Might as well be in blue hell, where Sporting Kansas City play everyone tough. They’re still good enough to earn a road point though. |
Laura McFayden |
DRAW |
SKC has been making a lot of costly mistakes this season and NYCFC has hit a stride. NYCFC will go in with confidence and a strong attack but SKC, mistakes aside, don’t give up. They won’t quit at home. |
