It’s a done deal, and the much anticipated rematch between “The Notorious” Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz will now happen at UFC 202.
Alas, the UFC made the official announcement during the UFC 199 pay-per-view broadcast, putting an end to recent reports that they had begun shopping around for another opponent for McGregor after talks with Diaz went south.

The bout was initially scheduled to headline the massive UFC 200 card in July, however; McGregor’s decision to ignore promotional obligations leading up to the landmark card lead to a stalemate between the two sides, with the UFC eventually pulling the Irishman off the card.
McGregor (19-3 MMA, 7-1 UFC) looks to avenge his loss and regain momentum after Diaz (19-10 MMA, 14-8 UFC) derailed the McGregor hype train in the first bout, submitting him in the second round after taking the fight on only ten days’ notice and becoming a star in his own right in the process.
The first bout is reported to be one of the top two highest grossing pay-per-views in UFC history, reportedly doing 1.5 million buys, according to Dana White, which places it in the realm of UFC 100 numbers, which to date had been the world’s leading MMA promotion’s largest selling PPV.
Though McGregor is the reigning featherweight champion and neither compete naturally in the weight class, the rematch will again happen at welterweight (170 Lbs) with UFC 202 happening Aug. 20 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
