The Ottawa Senators have shut down centre Kyle Turris indefinitely, general manager Bryan Murray announced on Monday. Turris has been trying to play through a high-ankle sprain, but it has hampered his skating and he has been ineffective of late, after a good start to the season. It is unclear if he will be back this season, as Turris will see how his injury responds to rest over the next few weeks.

Senators Shut Down Kyle Turris Indefinitely
Turris, 26, has 13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points in 57 games this season. Missing time due to injury is something new for Turris, who had been somewhat of an iron man before this year. He has missed six games this season because of injury; he had played all 82 games the previous two seasons, and all 48 games in the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season.
Turris was originally acquired in a trade with the then Phoenix Coyotes. The Senators acquired Turris, a former 2nd overall pick in the 2007 NHL Draft, for David Rundblad and a 2nd round pick.
