The Tiger-Cats have confirmed a new deal with defensive back Courtney Stephen today, which will keep him in Hamilton for another three years. The team also announced that they have signed offensive lineman Jeremy Lewis.
Courtney Stephen Inks Deal with Tiger-Cats
Stephen is a 26-year-old Brampton, Ontario native who played football at Wilfred Laurier University before transferring to the Northern Illinois Huskies to pursue his college football career in the United States. He was drafted by the Hamilton Tiger Cats in the second round of the 2012 CFL draft, and retains his national rights in the league.

In 2015 Stephen put up some incredible numbers, including 4 interceptions, 48 tackles, 2 special teams tackles , 4 pass knock downs, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery in 16. He has played in 47 games during his CFL career in Hamilton, in those 3 years he has recorded 129 tackles, 8 special team’s tackles, 6 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries.
This is a key signing for the Tiger-Cats as it adds another incredible national player to their roster just days before the CFL Free Agent market opens up. Stephen will give the Tiger-Cats some important presence and experience in the backfield. Stephen has played in 6 playoff games for the Ticats, including the 102nd Grey Cup against the Calgary Stampeders.
