After mounting speculation over the last few days it has been confirmed that the Feyenoord’s Dutch midfielder Lex Immers, has signed on loan for Cardiff City until June 30th.
Lex Immers signs for Cardiff City on loan
The 28 year-old has struggled this season to nail down a first team place with Feyenoord with only five league appearances to his name. His record for the Eredivisie club is impressive with 31 goals from 99 appearances as an attacking midfielder.
After five years, 145 games and 25 goals at former club Ado Den Haag the midfielder was signed by Feyenoord and his initial form was impressive, scoring 15 goals in his first season and then 12 in his second season.
Cardiff have lacked a goal scoring midfielder, despite Craig Noone’s double against Wolves last weekend.
Cardiff City CEO Ken Choo and new signing Lex Immers speaking to Cardiff City Player, “The twenty-nine year old forward will link up with the squad immediately, and will be available to feature in Saturday’s fixture with Rotherham United, subject to international clearance.
Lex scored thirty-one goals in ninety-nine appearances for Feyenoord, having joined from ADO Den Haag in 2012.
Born in The Hague, Netherlands, the 6’2” attacker came through the Den Haag Academy before making his professional debut in 2007.
Speaking of the signing, Cardiff City CEO, Ken Choo, said on Thursday: “We are thrilled to welcome Lex to Cardiff City Football Club.
“Lex is a great addition to our team, who has the technical ability and pace that we are looking for. More importantly, he has the ability to put the ball in the back of the net.
“The Management of the Club is constantly looking to strengthening the team. We have a strong belief this season and shall continue to push forward.
“Lex will wear the number 27 shirt for the remainder of the 2015/16 season.”
