Isaac Hayden’s first goal for Hull was the highlight of the week, with the Arsenal man putting in a quality performance in central midfield. Hayden also made news with manager Steve Bruce confirming his interest in keeping the player permanently, just weeks after reports of his loan being terminated.

Wojciech Szczesny played the full 90 minutes in Roma’s 1-1 draw with Hellas Verona. Verona equalised in the second half with a penalty. Szczesny made three saves in the draw.

Carl Jenkinson came on as a 75th minute substitute as West Ham fell 2-1 to Newcastle. The loss broke an eight match unbeaten streak in the Premier League for the Hammers, though they had won only three of eight. Jenkinson won both of the tackles he attempted after coming into the game, but had an otherwise quiet appearance.

Yaya Sanogo did not play in Ajax’s 1-0 win over Ado Den Haag.

Serge Gnabry did not play in West Brom’s 3-0 loss to Southampton.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles did not play as Ipswich drew 1-1 with Preston.

Isaac Hayden scored his first professional goal to round off a 6-0 win for Hull City over Charlton. Hayden completed 88 percent of his passes and nearly had an assist, while putting in solid defensive work in the centre of midfield. After the match, manager Steve Bruce confirmed his desire to sign Hayden to a permanent deal: a surprising turnaround after recent rumorus that his loan was being cut short. Said Bruce:

“I’d make it permanent tomorrow if that was possible. I desperately want to hang on to him. In an ideal world he’d want to be playing every week but he’s started last weekend and again.

Here’s Hayden’s goal, with his post-game reaction below.

Hayden’s team-mate Chuba Akpom was an unused substitute.

Jon Toral started and played 88 minutes as Birmingham won 3-0 over Derby County. Toral had a decent afternoon, setting up three chances and forcing three saves, but was unable to get himself on the score sheet.

Emiliano Martinez was an unused substitute as Wolves lost 3-1 to Cardiff City.

Wellington Silva started and went 88 minutes as Bolton fell 3-0 to Nottingham Forest. Bolton ‘keeper Ben Amos was sent off early, leaving Bolton to play most of the match with ten men.

Gedion Zelalem came on as a 68th minute substitute as Rangers won 4-1 over Livingston.

Stefan O’Connor did not play in York City’s 1-0 loss to Newport County.
