The Miami Dolphins have found their guy. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter the Dolphins hired current Bears offensive co-ordinator Adam Gase to be their new head coach, giving him a five-year deal. Gase will be introduced to press and fans in Miami at a 3:00 pm press conference.
Gase has been regarded as one of the top offensive coordinators in the game, it was all but set he would be a head coach soon. Gase lead Peyton Manning to and the Denver Broncos to the Super Bowl, and co-ordinated their offense in 2013 and 2014. During Adam Gase’s two seasons with the Broncos, Denver led the league in total points, total yards and passing yards. He spent this season with the Bears.
Gase to Miami is intriguing because he was able to help Jay Cutler have a big season after a disappointing 2014. The Miami Dolphins are hoping for Gase to do the same with quarterback Ryan Tannehill. His job in Miami is simple, fix Tannehill and get the Dolphins offense to be productive, just as he did with the Bears and Cutler this past season. Gase was one of the hottest names on the market after Cutler threw just 11 interceptions this season after 18 picks in 2014.
Adam Gase becomes the 12th Head Coach in Miami Dolphins history. Gase will replace interim head coach Dan Campbell who replaced Joe Philbin earlier in the year. It is unknown right now if Miami’s other coaches will stay or if Gase will bring a new staff to Miami.
According to Rapoport, Bengals defensive backs coach Vance Joseph will be the new Dolphins defensive coordinator.
It was thought Miami wanted Gase and wanted him badly. Miami was hoping they were going to hire Gase the first time he visited Miami for his interview. Adam Gase will know be Miami’s 9th coach since 2004, not a good stat for a team trying to take down the Patriots.
Adam Gase becomes the youngest head coach in the NFL.
