The Los Angeles Kings and Philadelphia Flyers made a trade on wednesday afternoon, and it involves some recognizable but under achieving names headed to southern California. The Kings acquire Vincent Lecavalier and Luke Schenn from the Flyers, in exchange for Jordan Weal and a third round pick. The Flyers will be retaining salary and cap hit in the deal, 50% of each of Lecavlier and Schenn’s deals.

Kings Acquire Vincent Lecavalier and Luke Schenn
The 35-year-old Lecavalier has a $4.5 million cap hit, and has two seasons remaining beyond this year. He was signed by Philadelphia as a free agent in the summer of 2013 after he was bought out by the Tampa Bay Lightning. He has never really found his game in the city of brotherly love, and has often been a fourth liner or healthy scratch. Lecavalier has played just 7 games this season, with one assist. Last year he played 57 games putting up eight goals and 20 points.

26-year-old Luke Schenn has a $3.6 million cap hit and is a free agent after this season. He has played in 29 games this season, with two goals and three assists for five points. He was acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs in a trade for James Van Riemsdyk. The move to Los Angeles brings him to the organization that traded his brother Brayden Schenn to the Flyers in 2010.
Weal, the Kings third round pick in 2010, is a rookie who has only played in 10 games this season. He has been held scoreless thus far. Weal led the Kings then AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs, to the Calder Cup with 22 points in 19 playoff games last season.
