The Brooklyn Nets have announced that rookie shooting guard Rondae Hollis-Jefferson will miss 8-10 weeks with an ankle injury.
Hollis-Jefferson suffered the ankle injury during practice on December 5th, and he went through successful ankle surgery on Wednesday. The procedure, which was performed by Nets team physician Dr. Martin O’Malley in Manhattan, will repair the fractured posterior talus in Hollis-Jefferson’s right ankle.
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson Out 8-10 weeks
Hollis-Jefferson has had a very solid start to his NBA career so far, averaging 5.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. The shooting guard has also started 14 of 19 games this season.
In Hollis-Jefferson’s absence, swingman Bojan Bogdanovic will start. The Brooklyn Nets have had an unbalanced start to the season; they started the season 0-7, but have since slightly picked up their form, as the Nets now sit 6-15 after 21 games.
Brooklyn Nets head coach Lionel Hollins is currently on the so called coaching hot seat, as Nets fans expect more from their coach and team. With the team sitting with the second worst record in the Eastern Conference, Lionel Hollins’ time in Brooklyn looks set to come to an end in the near future, especially if the team doesn’t start win soon. Personally, I disagree with the pressure being thrown Hollins’ way. Hollins has a team with a dearth of talent and definitely has no star power on the court. He needs time, just like any other coach in the NBA.
Brooklyn’s next game will be against the Philadelphia 76ers, a game that I see as a rare guaranteed win for the Nets.
