Here is your weekly NHL injury report for October 26th, 2015

Evander Kane

Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane will be out 4-6 weeks with an MCL injury. According to coach Dan Blysma he will not need surgery on the knee.  Kane left Saturday’s game against the New Jersey Devils with a leg injury. Kane has a goal and 3 points in 8 games thus far this season mainly playing on a Sabres second line and is tied for 5th in team scoring.

Mike Green and Kyle Quincy

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Mike Green will miss 2-3 weeks with an “upper-body” injury.  Green was hit hard Friday night by Flames forward Josh Jooris.  Following the hit, Green left the game and hadn’t returned since.  Ansar Khan who reported the injury earlier Monday afternoon, reported it as an undisclosed “upper-body” injury. Green has picked up an assist in 7 games while playing 19:37 per game for the Wings this season. Green has spent the entire season playing on the team’s second pairing.

Defenseman Kyle Quincey will miss at least the next 3 games with a concussion. He following the concussion protocol which is hard to determine when he’ll be cleared to play.  He was hit hard in the head during the third period by Flames forward Sam Bennett Friday night. Quincey  has a goal and 3 points in 7 games with the Red Wings this season. He has been playing third pairing minutes for the Wings this season.

The two defenseman will be replaced by Jakub Kindl and the newly called up Alexey Marchenkov.

Aleksander Barkov

Florida Panthers forward Aleksander Barkov will be out of commission for the next 2-4 weeks with a broken hand. Barkov’s injury occurred when a puck hit his hand last Thursday against the Chicago BlackHawks. He did not play Saturday against the Stars. He will not need surgery. Barkov was the pivot on the Panthers top line through his team’s first 7 games putting up 3 goals and 6 points between Jaromir Jagr and Jonathan Huberdeau. Barkov has been replaced on the first line by Nick Bjudstad.

Tuomo Ruutu

New Jersey Devils forward Tuomo Ruutu will be out for the next 4-6 weeks with a broken foot. Despite missing the last 4 games, the fracture on Ruutu’s foot hadn’t initially shown up until it was announced Monday. Ruutu has no points in 3 games for the Devils so far this season.

In other news the Devils claimed forward Bobby Farnham off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins.  Farnham has 5 penalty minutes in 3 games for the Penguins this season before he was put on waivers on Sunday.
