Jesse Winker, Cincinnati Reds, Age, 22 .292/.397/.471
The next star for the Reds should make his way to the club in 2016. They don’t have anyone blocking him, and his bat should fit in nicely right behind the Todd Frazier. He has a very good on base percentage and even stole eight bases this year in the minors. I also see the Reds dealing Jay Bruce this winter, so you should see Jesse given every shot to make the club next year out of spring training.
Yusniel Diaz, Cuba, Age 18
Diaz is another young toolsy Cuban player looking to sing for big money this offseason. At eighteen years old, he will give any club that ponies up the money a chance to mold him into their future left or right fielder. I see Diaz as a nice late round flier draft pick in your fantasy prospect draft.
Clint Frazier, Cleveland Indians, Age 21, .285/.377/.465
He is your standard for young power hitter: strikes out a ton but gets on base at a pretty good clip. Clint will won’t just give you power, he has a little speed as well and had fifteen stolen bases last season. Clint has shown he might be able to stay at center field, but most people see him moving over later in his career to left or right field.
Starting pitcher
RHP Yadier Alvarez, Los Angeles Dodgers, Age 19
Alvarez is a young fire-baller out of Cuba who was signed by the Dodgers this season. He is the same age (nineteen) as two other young Dodger pitchers. He will sit nice in a rotation with Julio Urias and Grant Holmes. The Dodgers rotation of the future looks pretty solid already one through three. There are not very many stats for Yadier Alvarez, but one international scouting director said he prefers Alvarez over Moncada.
LHP Sean Newcomb, Los Angeles Angels, Age 22, 136 IP with 168 K
I see Sean Newcomb as the future ace of the Angels staff. He is a big, strong lefty who throws in the high-90’s with huge strikeout potential. If he is on the board when your pick in a fantasy prospect draft comes around, take the kid. He will be up around next September for a cup of coffee and after that will be the ace for the next three or four years.
LHP Blake Snell, Tampa Bay Rays, Age 22, 134 IP with 163 K
Snell was the pitcher of the year for Triple-A and is another future ace from the left side for Tampa Bay. He gets strikeouts with his slider/change-up mix. Blake has pretty solid control over all his pitches, and I believe he has the potential to win the Rookie of the Year in 2016. So if he is still around in your prospect draft, take him. You won’t be disappointed.
