Last Word on Sports is proud to present their hockey podcast, On the Powerplay with Ben and Dave. Join Ben Kerr and Dave Gove each week as they take a look around the Hockey World focusing on the big issues of the NHL and elsewhere.
Tuesday, on the eve of the 2015-16 NHL season, the LWOS hockey department participated in their annual fantasy hockey draft. Dave and Ben broadcast live from the draft floor (or behind their computers as they make their picks).
As the picks come down, Dave and Ben discuss their strategy in the draft at each of their picks. By random draw Ben ended up with the second overall pick, while Dave picked 10th in the 11 team rotisserie pool. How does being relatively early in the draft order effect Ben’s choices and how does being late in the draft order effect Dave. What about having picks so close together and then the long wait for your next pick?
They also look at their competitors and who they feel are good picks, where they took players Dave or Ben wanted, and what they felt were reaches. They also give their insight on the players in question, and the picks made and what to expect this year.
This is the most informal version of On the power play ever done, and we hope you enjoy it. That said we also hope it can provide some Edu-tainment for the fantasy hockey season.
All of this and more, in this week’s edition of On the Power Play
