The New Orleans Saints are in the midst of a nightmare start to the season following a 26-19 loss at home to divisional rival Tampa Bay, dropping them to 0-2. The loss on the field may end up being the highlight of week two for New Orleans as rumors began to trickle out Monday afternoon about a possible shoulder injury suffered by quarterback Drew Brees. The rumors have been verified as Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network has confirmed that sources are reporting Brees does have a shoulder injury that will cause him to potentially miss multiple games.

Drew Brees May Miss Several Games with Shoulder Injury
The injury may have occurred during an early second quarter hit by Tampa Bay defensive lineman, Jacquies Smith; Brees appeared rattled, trying to pump and stretch out his throwing arm, but remained in the game. During the comeback attempt by New Orleans, a handful of passes late in the game came up short of receivers, and Brees admitted in postgame interviews that his shoulder was bothering him during the game.
Further info is surely to break when the severity of the injury is determined by doctors. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, an MRI confirmed the injury was not serious. For now, New Orleans will need to look into other options, likely from an outside source as backup Luke McCown has attempted only one NFL pass since the 2011 season.

The Saints will head to Carolina for a week three divisional matchup against the Carolina Panthers without their on-the-field leader. With the abysmal showing by the New Orleans defense over the first two weeks of the season, the Saints appear headed for a rough 2015 season and an early first round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
