Patrick Kane Expected at Blackhawks Training Camp

Although he is currently the subject of an investigation for an alleged sexual assault, Patrick Kane is expected to attend Chicago Blackhawks training camp, which begins on Friday at the University of Notre Dame.

According to Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times, members of the team’s management including president John McDonough and general manager Stan Bowman will address the media on Thursday.

Kane, 26, remains clean of any criminal charge, and will most likely speak to reporters this weekend for the first time since the investigation was announced in early August.

Grand jury proceedings surrounding Kane’s case were postponed on September 8th and are reportedly set to resume later this month. Evidence from Kane’s accuser as well as a friend who was supposedly present at Kane’s home in Hamburg, New York on the night of the alleged incident was going to be presented before the abrupt delay.

The Blackhawks have also announced try-out invites to defencemen Jan Hejda and Lubomir Visnovsky as they attempt to add depth to their blueline. The Blackhawks have also invited Tomas Kopecky on a training camp tryout at forward.  They join Michal Rozsival, Kyle Cumiskey, Daniel Paille, and Jake Dowell as players in camp on PTOs.

The Blackhawks three-day training camp in South Bend, Indiana on the campus of the University of Notre Dame is open to the public. You can view the complete training camp roster here.
