Senators Rookie Tournament Audio

Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears for HOCKEY IS BACK.

After a painful summer, our favorite sport is back on the ice.  Across the league a number of rookie tournaments are taking place and as they conclude NHL training camps will open.  The NHL returns, and LWOS is here to cover all the action.

This weekend, Charlie O’Connor Clarke and I from the Last Word on Sports hockey team were lucky enough to attend the NHL Rookie Tournament held at the Budweiser Gardens in London Ontario, featuring prospects from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens.  We obtained a ton of audio at the event, and we’re going to share it with you today.

The Senators had a highly successful rookie tournament.  Max McCormick had a pair of goals, and Tobias Lindberg scored the overtime winner on Friday Night as the Senators beat the Toronto Maple Leafs by a score of 4-3 in overtime.  On Saturday the Senators fell 4-1 to the Pittsburgh Penguins.  On Sunday they defeated the Montreal Canadiens by a score of 2-1 to finish the tournament with two wins, and tied for first (but losing on the head-to-head tie breaker) with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Here is some audio we captured along the way.

Charlie and I would like to thank the Ottawa Senators, the NHL, the London Knights, and the Budweiser Gardens for allowing us access to this event, and stay tuned for more great audio from the Canadiens, Penguins, and Maple Leafs.
