Fantasy Baseball Prospect Update – August 13th

Fantasy Baseball Prospect Update – August 13th

#1 Byron Buxton Twins – OF
5 tool player
Expected back in September

The Twins sent Buxton back to triple A this week, Probably to delay his clock. He is still the #1 prospect in baseball with more tools than a tool box. If anyone has dropped him try and stash this kid. Buxton could get hot in September and just destroy baseballs when he gets called up.

#2 Lucas Giolito Nationals – RHP
Potential Ace
Expect a call up in September

There were some rumors that he was going to get a spot start this past week, but the Nationals went with Joe Ross instead. If Joe Ross falters Washington could give Giolito a shot a the rotation. He could really help with a push down the stretch. Has the best stuff in the minors with three plus solid offerings. If he does not get the call this year he should have a shot to make the team during spring training next year.

#3 Trea Turner Nationals – SS
Could help with SB
Expect a call up in September

It looks like Ian Desmond is starting to turn things around a little bit so I pushed this expected call up time to September. Prior to this little streak by Desmond, the Nationals may have been running out of patience with him. With Turner playing at a really high level in the minors, he could prove to be valuable for a playoff push.

#4  Jose Peraza Dodgers – 2B
Could help with SB
Just got called up by Dodgers

I have been talking about this guy all season when he was a member of the Atlanta Braves. He was blocked by two out of no where guys in Jace Peterson and Cameron Maybin so they Braves traded him to the Dodgers at the deadline. Two weeks later Peraza is on the big league roster after an injury to incumbent Dodgers second baseman Howie Kendrick. Peraza has game changing speed. We will see if it translates to the big leagues in the next few weeks.

#5 Hector Olivera Braves – 3B
Middle of the order bat
Should be up soon

After the Braves have dealt Juan Uribe and Chris Johnson; that third base spot has Olivera’s name written all over it. Once he is healthy you will see a nice end of the year showcase of the Braves big move at the trade deadline. He could be a good keeper for next year. Just keep an eye out for his health, as it has been an issue over the past three years both here and in Cuba.
