Week 13 has passed and things didn’t change as much as predicted. Most of the bad were bad, and most of the good were good. So it’s not surprising that not much has changed in our Top and Bottom ranks – but we’ll check them out anyway.
Start with the no good, very bad and extremely ugly!
28 . Carolina Panthers – They lost an emotional battle in Kansas City. Now they are complaining about comments Matt Ryan Made about them back in week 4. Apparently this is fuel for them to beat the Falcons this coming week. HA! Good luck! The Panthers are playing like garbage and now they’re talking trash. I think they’re just setting themselves up for embarrassment in their own backyard. At least they can cook some mean ribs!
29. Oakland Raiders – This week they hosted Cleveland and lost. Yes, they failed to win against the Browns – at home. Jebus. Next week they host Denver, so to say they’re in big trouble is a big understatement. Are the Raiders going to win another game in 2012?
30. Philadelphia Eagles – The Eagles were recently bitten by the injury bug to go along with their new habit of blowing 4th qtr leads on Sunday Night Football, not to mention an 8-game losing streak! They are getting ready to battle the Jags and Chiefs for last place! How exciting!
31. Kansas City Chiefs – Big win at home, and hats off to the club for being able to step on the field after Friday’s tragedy. Unfortunately it only puts them ahead of Jacksonville right now in their weekly “battle of the basement”.
32. Jacksonville Jaguars – 5 “B’s” – Beaten Badly By Bills = Basement! How’s that for alliteration. This week they host the hurting New York Jets, but definitely don’t get too excited Jags fans. Jags fans? Hello, anyone?
I really wanted to add the Arizona Cardinals to the mix, but these teams won’t let me. Maybe next week!
Finally we can start talking football. Not much change up top either, but at least it’s fun to talk about good teams.
5. San Francisco 49ers – I still think very highly of the 49ers, and luckily they will not have to play St.Louis in the playoffs. Basically they need to redeem themselves at Candlestick Park on Sunday against the Dolphins, and then they have the big week 15 battle with New England where they need to show everyone what they got!
4. New England Patriots – The Patriots are on track and are definitely a SuperBowl contender as always! Next up is Monday Night Football facing the Texans at Gillett Stadium in the game of the year thus far. It is their chance to jump up the ranks and gain a shot at home field for the playoffs. This game is huge!
3. Denver Broncos – 9-3, with 7 wins in a row now, and sitting in a good situation. If they beat the Raiders, as they should, they will benefit in the standings after the Pats and Texans are done slugging it out. Nobody wants to play Peyton Manning at Mile High Stadium in the post season!
2. Houston Texans – They play one tough game per month, but this time it’s on the Patriots’ turf on Monday Night Football. No need for explaining, just enjoy the game!
1. Dirty Birds – I don’t know why the Falcons aren’t #1 on everyone’s list. I say it time and time again, they know how to win the game in any situation! The Saints were starting to get a little dangerous again until they went down to Georgia on a Thursday nighter, where the Dirty Birds knew exactly what to do…. STOP DREW BREES! Everyone knows how hard it is to stop Brees, but not only did the Falcons stop Brees they were the first team in 55 games to not allow him to throw a single touchdown pass. That’s an NFL record that they put an end to.
Things are getting very exciting, can you believe there is only four games left!? There is still time for Baltimore, Green Bay and Chicago to climb ranks, though the Urlacher injury is like a shot to the crotch on a cold day. Man, lots of contenders this year – I love it!
