On June 15th, Titan FC announced that they would be making the move from CBS Sports Network to UFC Fight Pass. With so many changes occurring in other fighting organizations, it’s understandable that fighters would like their voices to be heard on the new deal.
So far, it seems like the fighters competing at Titan FC 34 are happy with the promotion partnering up with the biggest MMA organization in the world.
“I think this is great. I think that it puts us really close to the UFC. It gives the fighters and the show really good exposure. I like the whole idea of fighting on Fight Pass,” Freddy Assuncao says.
For Freddy, the goal is to join his brothers Junior and Raphael Assuncao by becoming a UFC fighter, making history as the only three brothers to fight at in UFC. For Freddy, the deal puts him one step closer to that goal.
For those who have been around the fight game for a long time, the deal can be seen as a smart business decision by Titan FC to stay ahead of other promotions.
“There’s a lot of subscriptions and I know the UFC pumps Fight Pass a lot and the promotions on it. I think it’s a smart move for Titan FC, especially in a time where it’s hard to compete with a company like the UFC,” says MMA veteran Issac Vaillie Flag.
Along with getting exposure to a large audience of Fight Pass subscribers, the fighters are also very aware of the fact that the highers-ups at the UFC will most likely keep an eye on the event.
“That’s always the ultimate goal is to get into the UFC, and they’re going to be watching. No matter who wins or who losses, they are going to be like ‘Wow!’,” Vincent Eazelle says.
For Titan FC CEO Jeff Aronson, the decision to sign a deal with the UFC was made with the fighter’s best interest in mind. It comes to no surprise to him that fighters are excited about the new deal.
“Yeah and they should be! This totally closes the loop if you’re trying to make it back into the UFC, which is the goal for all fighters. Knowing that Zuffa brass will be watching all of the events, knowing that we’re airing on Fight Pass, there is no other promotion that can offer the fighters what we’re offering them.”
Titan FC 34 airs live on UFC Fight Pass, with the card beginning at 7pm EST. The main event features Titan Lightweight Champion Pat “Bam Bam” Healy defending his title against late-replacement Marcus Edwards.
