We’re back again with another look at prospects making waves around the minor leagues, and knocking on the door of the show.
Fantasy Baseball Prospects Update July 2nd
#1 Corey Seager Dodgers SS
Stats .312/.359/.522
With the play of Jimmy Rollins slipping of late, you can hear the footsteps of Cory Seager slowly creeping up. I still don’t see the dodgers calling up Cory anytime soon. Maybe after July and the dodgers have not pulled away from the Giants but the dodgers have a really weak schedule in July. So maybe mid August at best for a call up from Seager.
#2 Miguel Sano Twins 3B
Stats .266/.366/.528
Thursday July 2 he will be called up.
Now with Joey Gallo in the show, the man with the most power in the minors is Miguel Sano. The Twins are sitting in first place at the moment so i could see them giving Sano a shot to see if he sticks. He is worth a add because he qualifies at SS in Yahoo. If he sticks with the big league club I could see him hitting 15 bombs. Pick him up now if you need power from your SS slot.
#3 Stephen Piscotty Cards OF
Stats .266/.361/.471
Pretty Solid player, good defense, little power, little speed. I don’t see much upside here but the Cards players always find a way to produce. So I would not be shocked to see him play over his head if he does get a call up. In deeper leagues might be worth a pick up if he gets the call.
#4 Jose Peraza Braves 2nd base
Stats .294/.322/.372 19SB
Same story here for the past month. Both spots he plays has guys playing out of their mind so not a spot for him on the big league roster just yet. check back in a month. Wait for him to get the call don’t stash him no more.
#5 Hector Olivera Dodgers 2nd/3rd
Stats .358/.393/.528
He currently on the DL. Check back in 2 weeks. I am guessing after the all star break call up.
#6 Daniel Norris Blue Jays LHP
Stats 3.73 ERA 1.56 WHIP
Sent down to work on his command earlier this year. Starting to climb his way back to a starting job with the Blue Jays. Don’t see him getting the call until after the all star break or a week or so after. Big time sleeper for a few people this year but pitches in too much of a home run park for me.
#7 Luis Severino Yankees RHP
Stats 2.54 ERA WHIP 1.02 72 Ks
He should get the call to help out the yankees soon. No idea when but i could see him all over ESPN and MLB network after his call up just because he is a yankee. Could help you out in Wins and strikeouts down the stretch work a pick up.
#8 Trea Turner SS Nats
Stats .318/.372/.464 15SB
I still have this crazy idea the Nats try and make a deal and get something for desmond before he leaves in free agency. Trea would help them up the middle and provide a true lead off bat they need. But if he does not get the call he is worth looking at in dynasty leagues.
