Burmistrov bolted the team in 2013 as a restricted free agent, opting to sign a deal in the KHL. Burmistrov had issues with then Winnipeg coach Claude Noel, but with the Jets a much improved team under Paul Maurice, and the value of the Russian ruble falling, Burmistrov is back in Winnipeg.
He adds a dynamic offensive player to a Jets team that made the playoffs as a wild card last season, before falling in the first round in a four game sweep to the Anaheim Ducks.
The Jets have also re-signed Drew Stafford, Adam Pardy, and Matt Halischuk adding depth to the team in the last 24 hours. They watched free agent forward Michael Frolik leave to sign a five year deal to play for the Calgary Flames.
The following is the official team press release.
