MLS Pick ‘Em 2015: Week 17 – D.C. United v. New England Revolution

MLS Pick ‘Em 2015: Week 17 – D.C. United v. New England Revolution

This week, once again, the majority of the writers were swindled by the favorite. Orlando eeked out a win at home to DC, and the tables turn ever so slightly. Nort, Ned, and myself all picked up points thanks to the win. Nort moved into a tie for the bottom spot, while I edge slowly closer to the front of the pack. I guess the head start I gave the others worked out pretty well for them. Here are the updated standings with half the season gone.

Player Points Correct Outcome Correct Score Incorrect
Russ McKenzie 15 9 3 8
Jeff Krause 11 9 1 8
Eric Walcott 10 10 0 8
Joseph Goldstein 8 6 1 11
Alec Rivera 7 5 1 12
Ned Joyce 6 4 1 13
John Richan 4 4 0 13
Michael Norton 4 4 0 13

This week D.C. and New England, the top two teams in the Eastern Conference, go head to head for the second time this year. New England will be without Jermaine Jones, but D.C. could be without Sean Franklin and Chris Pontius who are both listed as questionable. Will D.C. be able to continue their dominance of the East, or will New England pull within a point of the top spot? Here’s what the experts say:

DC might have come up short in Orlando, but don’t expect a repeat of the Citrus Bowl failure. New England is not up to snuff just yet, and this will be yet another stumble for them before they get it right.

Draw(1-1) The Revs finally broke their winless streak, and have still only lost twice since week two. DC just saw their home unbeaten streak fall. Both teams played mostly reserves in USOC, so should be well rested. New England will outplay United, but come away with just 1 point.

New England is going to show up this weekend and inch closer to top spot in the East. DC might be in first but are struggling to find consistency.

Remember when New England went on that pre-Jermaine Jones tank last summer? Not saying they’ll repeat, but…
