Matchday 13 Preview: Saint Louis FC Return Home

(St. Louis, MO, June 12, 2015) – The following is a press release from Saint Louis FC of the USL presented by Mercy.

After two consecutive road matches, Saint Louis FC return home to play the Harrisburg City Islanders for the first time in club history.

Saint Louis FC (3-3-4, 12 pts.) vs. Harrisburg City Islanders (4-3-2, 14 pts.)

Date: Saturday, June 13

Time: 7:30 PM

Venue: World Wide Technology Soccer Park; Fenton, Mo.

LAST TIME OUT: Saint Louis FC earned a point on the road with a 1-1 draw against Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Highmark Stadium last Saturday. Pittsburgh took a second-half lead via penalty kick, but Jermie Lynch drew the visitors level with a header in the 80th minute. Saint Louis FC has played to a draw in each of its last three league games, and will be looking for its first win in USL competition since a 1-0 victory over Wilmington on May 9.

THE OPPONENT: Harrisburg City Islanders also earned a point in its previous game, playing to a 0-0 draw with Toronto FC II last weekend. After gaining momentum with a six-game unbeaten streak that included five wins between April 18-May 20, Harrisburg is winless in its last three games in all competitions. The Islanders are led by Head Coach and St. Louis native Bill Becher.

THE SERIES: Saturday’s game is the first of two meetings between Saint Louis and Harrisburg the season. The teams will meet again in Harrisburg, Pa., on September 6 in what will be Saint Louis FC’s final roadtrip of the regular season.

THE NUMBERS: Through its first 10 league games, Saint Louis FC has netted 12 goals while conceding the same amount. The club’s 1.20 goals against average is good for 6th in USL, but Saint Louis sits 15th in goals per game. Forwards Lynch and Bryan Gaul have combined to score six of the team’s 12 goals so far.
