On Monday, Nic Demski earned his first pro football contract with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL. I say first because truly, the sky is the limit for Demski.
Sure, the Riders would love to lock the former University of Manitoba Bison into a long term deal that would see him play his entire career here in Regina. That is, however, not an easy thing to do. Demski has already raised eyebrows of NFL scouts and GMs.
Through the last week, many have wondered if the receiver/running back/returner and his agent were in discussions with NFL clubs. While other other CFL clubs were busy signing their 2015 draft picks, the Riders remained silent on Demski.
Coach Corey Chamblin compares Demski to Andre Durie. Chamblin said, “For me, I look at him and he’s Andre Durie in the way that he runs and he’s tough to bring down – he’s just the first person that came to mind.”
Regina area fans can catch Demski this Wednesday and Thursday at Rider rookie camp. Practices are at Mosaic Stadium and begins at 11:45 AM both days. Fans are welcome.
