D.C. United Takes Over First Place in MLS

Black-and-Red come from behind to defeat Orlando City, 2-1

Washington, D.C. (May 13, 2015) – D.C. United (6-1-3, 21 points) moved to the top of the Major League Soccer standings with a 2-1 win in its first-ever home game against expansion side Orlando City (2-5-3, 9 points). United extended its unbeaten streak overall to eight games, and its unbeaten streak at RFK Stadium to 18 straight games in all competitions, including 14 consecutive in league play dating back to June 2014.

Cyle Larin put the visitors in front in the 11th minute before Kofi Opare tied the game in the 70th minute and Chris Rolfe, with his team-leading third goal of the year, gave United the lead in the 79th minute.

D.C. United returns to action on the road at the Philadelphia Union on Sunday, May 17 (FOX Sports 1, 7).

  • D.C. United is unbeaten in eight straight matches has matched the franchise’s best start after 10 games. In 2006, United was also 6-1-3 (21 points) after 10 matches.
  • United is unbeaten in 18 straight games in all competitions at RFK Stadium, including 14 straight in league play. The last loss came against Seattle in June 2014.
  • D.C. United improved to 10-1-2 in inaugural home games against expansion or relocated MLS teams since 1998.
  • D.C. United improved its record against Orlando City to 2-0-0.
  • D.C. United improved to 2-1-0 in 2015 when conceding the first goal, and it improved to 1-1-0 when trailing at halftime.

  • Chris Rolfe recorded his team-leading third goal of 2015, the 57th of his MLS career.
  • Kofi Opare scored his first goal of 2015 and his first goal for D.C. United. It was the second goal of his MLS career.
  • Taylor Kemp recorded his second assist of 2015, the fourth of his MLS career.
  • Jairo Arrieta recorded his first assist of 2015, the 10th of his MLS career.
  • Davy Arnaud recorded his third assist of 2015, which is tied for the team lead. It was the 46th assist of his career.
  • Bobby Boswell made his 64th consecutive regular season start. Boswell has 44 consecutive starts since his return to D.C. United in 2014.
  • Bobby Boswell made his 301st MLS appearance.
  • Luis Silva made his first start of 2015.
  • Head Coach Ben Olsen’s overall record is now 55-65-38. He is 2-0-0 vs. Orlando City.
