With a dramatic win over the weekend, Saint Louis FC have a short turn around on their second game of the home stand. They take on struggling Toronto FC II in a Thursday night USL clash.
Saint Louis FC Match Day Preview 7: Toronto FC II Comes To Town
Match Up: Saint Louis FC (3-2-1, 10 Pts) vs. Toronto FC II (1-4-1, 4 Pts)
Date: Thursday, May 14 7:00 PM CT
Venue: World Wide Technology Soccer Park; St. Louis, MO
LAST TIME OUT: Saint Louis FC (3-2-1) is coming off its first home victory of the season after defeating Wilmington Hammerheads FC 1-0 at World Wide Technology Soccer Park on Saturday night. Defender Sam Fink scored the game-winner in the 82nd minute off a Mike Roach corner kick. STL FC will be looking to continue its current two-game winning streak on Thursday.
THE OPPONENT: Toronto FC II (1-4-1) is on a four-game winless streak, with three losses and a draw since their last victory on March 28. On Saturday, Toronto FC II suffered a 1-0 loss to Rochester Rhinos and has lost its last two games. TFC II will be playing its seventh consecutive road match on Thursday in St. Louis.
THE SERIES: Thursday’s game will be the first meeting between Saint Louis FC and Toronto FC II. The sides will meet again on July 18 at BMO Field.
DIXON GETS JAMAICA CALL-UP: Earlier this week, defender Richard Dixon was called up to the Jamaica Men’s National Team for Copa America 2015 and the CONCACAF Gold Cup this summer. Dixon will remain with STL FC until he leaves for international duty at the end of May. He will return to the squad following the Gold Cup in late July.
TEAM OF THE WEEK HONORS: Fink and goalkeeper Alec Kann were named to this week’s USL Team of the Week following their standout performances in the win over Wilmington last weekend. STL FC has now had six different players receive USL Team of the Week honors this season, tied for second-highest among all USL teams.
