Apparently the quarterback circus in Philadelphia has a new addition to their troupe.
Reports from both Jay Glazer of Fox Sports and Adam Schefter of ESPN surfaced Sunday that the Philadelphia Eagles were close to signing quarterback Tim Tebow. Tebow had last played for the New England Patriots in 2013 after signing a two-year non-guaranteed contract with the team. He was released at the conclusion of the preseason.

Eagles To Sign Tim Tebow
Tebow last played in the regular season during the 2012 season with the New York Jets, but saw very little action and was let go the following April. The first round draft pick of the Denver Broncos in 2010 won the Heisman Trophy with Florida in 2007 in addition to two national championships with the Gators.
His most successful season as a pro came in his second year in Denver. He appeared in 14 regular season games and most famously led the Broncos to a 29-23 overtime win in the AFC wild-card round over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He threw for 316 yards and two touchdowns in the game, including a game-winning 80-yard reception to Demaryius Thomas.
The 27-year-old joins an already crowded quarterback situation in Philadelphia that has become the talk of the NFL. Eyebrows were raised when head coach Chip Kelly decided to deal Nick Foles to the Rams for the oft-injured Sam Bradford. It’s a reunion of sorts for Tebow and Mark Sanchez who both played for the Jets in 2012. Sanchez’s teammate at USC Matt Barkley, in addition to G.J. Kinne entering his second season out of Tulsa, round out the position.
Bradford appears to be the clear starter at this point, and the move to bring in Tebow in no way guarantees he’ll last beyond August, much like what transpired at his last stop in New England. Of course, the next possible development in what has become quite the soap opera is whether or not they’re interested in putting together a package (that would likely involve Bradford and many draft picks) to move up in the 2015 NFL Draft and take Marcus Mariota, who Kelly coached when he was still at Oregon.
Does Philly have one more ace up their sleeve heading into the draft, or is this it? We shall see when the league converges on Chicago in a little more than a week.
