The Ottawa REDBLACKS release two players today as they, and teams around the CFL, fine-tune their training camp roster. 2015 marks the second season back in the CFL for the Ottawa club.
Released were national wide receiver, Robin Medeiros and international defensive lineman John Lattimore.
Robin Medeiros
He is a former CJFL standout at his WR/KR. He played so well in 2008 with Burlington Braves, that after beating the Braves in the national championship game, BC’s Vancouver Island Raiders effectively stole the young receiver for the 2009 season. The addition of national WR Brad Sinopoli this offseason, and the likeliness that a couple local products will occupy space at camp, likely played a role in his release today.
John Lattimore
Lattimore played at North Alabama an NCAA Div II university. He’s a pretty fast defensive end who loves to and can get in the backfield on most plays. He’ll also pursue backs into the secondary with his speed. I would not be surprised if Lattimore gets another opportunity in the CFL in 2015. Stay tuned.
Here is the Press Release from the REDBLACKS.
