Can too much of a good thing actually be bad? The pros and cons of playing high priced guards will discussed today.

It has gotten a bit crazy how good D’Angelo Russell has been playing. His price tag has bumped up to $10,400 and that is a lot of fanduel dollars. When I asked if too much of a good thing could be bad I was referring too Russell being a virtual must play every night. The thing is even if you have been paying for him it hasn’t meant you’ve been cashing. The rest of your lineup has taken a hit because of it. He has been the best fantasy player every time he’s on the slate, but if your forced into playing minimum priced guys that have hurt you, then he hasn’t payed off. The same thing could be said for Kris Dunn (priced at 9800). These guys are big plays when they are on the slate, but the lack of solid players around them in your lineup can cause you to want to fade My advice tonight is go with two top plays and scatter the rest. I will discuss today my top high priced plays and top value plays.

Top High Priced Plays

D’Angelo Russell -Guard Ohio State. Price 10400

Best fantasy player in the country, and arguably the best overall player. Wow did this kid come out of nowhere, but what a pleasure he has been to watch. The match-up tonight plays into his wheelhouse and his usage in this uptempo offense is just silly. Pay for him, and figure out the rest of your lineup with less cash.

Kris Dunn -Guard Providence. Price 9800

Dunn has reeled off what you could call three straight duds for his price tag. Look for him to be far more aggressive tonight on the offense end. The last two games he hasn’t been getting up many shots, and been doing a bit too much loitering for my liking. Tonight, I expect old Kris Dunn to come back. In a tough, close home match-up he’ll be relied on heavily to produce. If you aren’t going Russell you must play Dunn.

Melo Trimble -Guard Maryland. Price 7100

Trimble at home is very reliable. While not priced as high as the above guys, he can certainly still provide good value at his price. With Maryland being favored at home with a high total, expect Trimble to get his tonight. I really like him at this price.

Rakeem Christmas -Forward Syracuse. Price 9900

The only reason Christmas ever takes a seat next to Jim Boeheim is if he is in foul trouble. Four straight games not sitting one minute. The last time he sat was against who? Five games ago vs Boston College in a game he played 23 minutes. He meets Boston College again tonight. Foul trouble was strictly the reason for him sitting against them, and this was the only true dud he has had in his last ten games. He had good numbers in limited minutes, and against an undersized BC team, Christmas will get his fair share. The question is if you can fit him in with one of the above two studs.

Devin Williams -Forward West Virginia. Price 6900

This is simply a great match-up for Williams. He has played great his last two and is especially good at home. Did I mention how bad Kansas State is on the glass? Bottom 5% in Division 1. Williams could have himself a monster night, but does come with risk of foul trouble and lack of high minutes. You need him in a few GPP lineups tonight at a minimum.

Top Value Plays

Daiquan Walker -Guard Central Florida. Price 4700

UCF has lost six straight games, but is actually a home favorite in this spot. I expect them to score points regardless of a win or loss. Walker is lightening in a bottle off the bench and sees more than average starter minutes. At 4700 he is a great play on tonight’s slate.

London Perrantes -Guard Virginia. Price 5100

Fanduel does not want to put his price u where it should be in the 5600-5800 range. As long as he is still under that price Perrantes is in play. Basically sees 38 minutes a game and with no Justin Anderson, there will be more shots to go around. Continue to roll him out as I’m sure you already have been the past few games.

Konstantinos Mitoglou -Forward Wake Forest. Price 4800

Mitoglou since starting has been playing very well and Fanduel hasn’t done much with his price. 24,15,20 fantasy points his last three and in a fast paced game he will get his looks and rebounds again. He has a dud coming but I don’t think it will be here at home against Miami.

Tony Parker -Forward UCLA. Price 5200

Parker looks like he is rounding back into form after his two most recent performances. He is another play that Fanduel has been slow with the price increases. He has a good home match-up at Oregon State, and as long as he stays out of foul trouble he certainly will be at or close to value.

Mitchell Wilbekin -Guard Wake Forest. Price 4500

You may look at his game logs and think he is a minutes eater, but don’t let a few bad games fool you. Coming back home Wilbekin will get his threes up and if they hit, he will easily exceed value. This type of game is where he’ll get his open looks that he is been missing the past few games. The minutes will be there, and if playing him allows you to pay up for studs, I say go for it.
