UCLA Gets Gift From Georgia in Roquan Smith

Jim Mora is having a good geography day.  After getting the top tight end in the country, from Connecticut, the top running back in this high school class, from Texas, and a highly recruited guard from Oklahoma, Mora now has one of the top linebackers in the country in Roquan Smith from Montezuma, Georgia.  He is considered the 29th overall recruit, and number two outside LB amongst ESPN’s top 300 for 2015.

Smith’s commitment came as somewhat of a surprise.  He had offers from all over the country, but particularly from SEC and ACC schools. According to reports, he had narrowed it down to Georgia, Michigan, Texas A&M and UCLA. At his announcement, Georgia Bulldogs 5-star signee Trent Thompson was in attendance, leading many to believe Smith would join Thompson with the home state Bulldogs. Roquan Smith is 6-2, 205. He had 79 total tackles and 2 interceptions in his senior year at Macon County High School in Georgia.
