ARGOS NAME JONATHAN HIMEBAUCH TO COACHING STAFF

Toronto – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is pleased to announce that Jonathan Himebauch has joined the club as Offensive Line Coach/Assistant Head Coach.

Commented Argonauts Head Coach, Scott Milanovich, “Jonathan is a great teacher who will bring intensity and toughness to our football team. He has a championship pedigree and I feel very fortunate to add him to our staff today.”

Himebauch has worked at nearly every level of football, including high school, NCAA and CFL, in a coaching career that began in 1998. As the Edmonton Eskimos’ Offensive Line Coach/Run Game Coordinator last season, he led a unit that helped the club finish first or second in most rushing categories, and first in most net yards per game and most average net yards per game. Previous to his time in Edmonton, he won back-to-back Grey Cup championships as Offensive Line Coach for the Montreal Alouettes. While there, his unit was responsible for protecting Anthony Calvillo and helping him to be named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player in 2009. Himebauch was first hired into the CFL by Argos current General Manager, Jim Barker in 2003, who was the head coach of the Calgary Stampeders at the time, where he also worked alongside Argos current Head Coach, Scott Milanovich.

Jonathan Himebauch remarked, “It is an honour to be part of the Argonauts organization again, and to work with Scott Milanovich and the coaching staff he has assembled. I want to help return this football team to the playoffs, with the end goal to help bring a Grey Cup championship back to the organization and the city of Toronto.”

After an outstanding playing career in the NCAA as a starting Centre and team captain with the USC Trojans, he embarked on a professional career with stops in the CFL, as a member of the Argonauts where he played one regular season game and a playoff game, NFL, XFL and NFL Europa. Himebauch also spent time in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs. He was a member of the XFL with the Los Angeles Xtreme as well as NFL Europa with the Rhein Fire between 1998 and 2001.
