Rafael Nadal made history on Wednesday when he defeated his compatriot Feliciano Lopez in three tight sets. The Spanish legend reached his 1,000th victory, making him the 4th player ever to achieve this milestone. No doubt he is one of the greatest of all time and he keeps on adding to his resume.

4th Man To Achieve 1,000 Wins Since The Open Era

Nadal joins a selected club of three other men who have achieved this milestone. Jimmy Connors is one of the other three who has reached this mark, with 1,274 wins. Next is Roger Federer with 1,242 wins. Third is Ivan Lendl, who has 1,068 wins. This is a huge accomplishment for the Spaniard, as he is now a part of a selected group with an incredible achievement.

Other Milestones He Has Reached

Recently, Rafael Nadal won the French Open reaching 20 Majors and tying Roger Federer in that department. He has also won a record 13 French Opens and has a record of 100 wins and two losses at the French Open. Another milestone is that he has been in the Top 10 for 789 weeks and counting. He has won 86 singles titles and is 4th in that department. Also, he has won 35 Masters 1000 titles, only one title away from leader Novak Djokovic.

One Of The Greatest Of All Time

Unquestionably, Rafael Nadal is one of the greatest tennis players of all time. He has won all Grand Slams and obviously The French Open is his bread and butter. He has won 13 French Opens, two Wimbledon titles, five US Open titles, and one Australian Open title. Adding to that, he won the Gold Medal at 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, defeating Fernando Gonzales of Chile. In the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, he won the Gold Medal in doubles with his partner Marc Lopez. Also, he has won five Davis Cup representing Spain. Lastly, he has 11 double titles in his career.

All in all , Rafael Nadal is a remarkable tennis player and athlete. Many people and fellow tennis players admire his style of play. He has solidified his name into to greatest of all time. This week he will try to win his first Paris Masters 1000 as he came close to it back in 2007 when he lost to David Nalbandian in straight sets. He is on track to win the title as he will play Pablo Carreño Busta in the quarterfinals.
