Dustin Johnson is a champion once again.

For the first time in his career, Johnson wins the Travelers Championship, after shooting a final-round three-under 67.

With the win Sunday, it is Johnson’s 21st career PGA Tour victory.

And the first time since the 2019 WGC Mexico Championship that the former World No. 1 is back in the winner’s circle.

“I was putting very nicely this week,” Johnson said to CBS’ Amanda Balionis after his final round. “Today, I was hitting the ball really well but I wasn’t driving in the fairway. I figured out a way to get it done.”

Johnson started Sunday two strokes back of 54-hole leader Brendon Todd. After birdies on holes four and five, Johnson shot up the leaderboard to move into a tie for the lead with Todd.

But a wayward tee shot on the par-4 7th ultimately cost Johnson, who bogeyed the hole after missing a 10-foot par putt.

The World No. 6 wasn’t too concerned with the dropped shot. He responded with three straight birdies, which included holing his putt off the green on the 10th. After a bogey on the par-5 13th, Johnson secured a bounce-back birdie on the 14th to extend his lead.

With his tee shot on the 13th barely going out of bounds, the golf gods were with Johnson on the 15th hole, as his tee shot stayed on the bank and didn’t bounce into the water. He ended up making par on the 15th.

Johnson’s ability to respond after his bogeys, coupled with Todd’s triple-bogey at the 12th, paved the way to victory for the Colombia, S.C. native.

“It was a long time between wins,” Johnson said. “Hopefully, it won’t be long until the next one.”

Johnson’s 21st career PGA Tour win matches Tiger Woods’ number of victories since 2008. It is also the 13th consecutive season Johnson has won on the PGA Tour.

In a week where Johnson shot his career-low round of 61 on Saturday, it was fitting that it ended with another PGA Tour victory.
