The usual four-game slates we are accustomed to will only be a trifecta of games this week for CFL fantasy. Not only will we be minus a game, but the Blue Bombers will also be minus Andrew Harris. He was docked a two-game suspension which he will begin serving this week for violating the league’s drug policy. The Blue Bombers have lost Darvin Adams, Matt Nichols and Andrew Harris almost consecutively. They were able to withstand Edmonton last week, but we will see what they are able to do without Andrew Harris against the Roughriders next.
CFL Fantasy Picks
DraftKings = $8,300/$50,000
TSN = $6,840/$40,000
To me, Streveler looks like one of the best values on the board. Last week he started for the injured Matt Nichols and led the Blue Bombers to a road win over the Eskimos. Streveler’s trademark is his rushing ability which is something everybody should be looking for when selecting their quarterback.
I think it is fair to say Streveler is on another level though. In last week’s game against Edmonton, he rushed a total of 14 times for 95 yards and a touchdown. 95 yards? That’s five short of the coveted three-point bonus. Now he could soak up even more of the rushing attempts with Harris out. If you plan on paying down, I think you can make the argument for either Evans or Streveler. For me, I think Streveler gets the edge with the built-in rushing floor.
Given the short slate of games, paying up for quarterback actually becomes a little bit more viable. Trevor Harris and C.J. Fajardo are the highest priced guys on DraftKings. It is also worth noting that Fajardo is the 4th priced guy (who is active) on TSN which makes no sense. Bo Levi Mitchell was also activated off of the injured list this week which could signal his return as the Stampeders’ signal-caller. Right now he is listed as questionable.
Draftkings = $6,600/$50,000
TSN = $6,303/$40,000
Calgary is getting healthy at the right time. In week 10 they welcomed running back Don Jackson back into the fold. In his return, he rushed 13 times for 77 yards and also logged six catches. This is a huge plus for Jackson if he is going to be used in this way in the passing game. Before he went down he had caught five balls in each of his two games. Now we have a little bit more reassurance that Calgary intends to use him as a true workhorse. Paying up for Powell or Gable makes little sense this week, as they aren’t exactly worthy of their price tags. Not to mention there is plenty of other value to choose from
Chris Rainey and Brandon Burks have been a serviceable tandem in the absence of James Wilder Jr. Burks has played the receiver out of the backfield while Rainey has been efficient on the ground and in the return game. They are both solid options this week. John Santiago and Jonny Augustin look to see extra work with Andrew Harris out. While they may look like a great plug and plays on the surface, I am a little skeptical.
I am not sure how effective they can be with Streveler probably being the main beneficiary of the vacated Harris rushes. I also wouldn’t be surprised if the Blue Bombers actually gave Lucky Whitehead some rushes, further dividing the number of possible touches.
Draftkings = $7,800/$50,000
TSN = $7,996/$40,000
Davaris Daniels has really come on strong in the past two games for the Eskimos. This week he has a revenge game against his former team in the Calgary Stampeders. I am never really one to buy into that kind of narrative, but the chemistry between him and Harris has developed quite a bit. He has seen 11 and 13 targets respectively in each of the past two games. In my opinion, he could see around seven or eight here and still return nice value on his price. A Harris to Daniels stack makes a lot of sense here.
Saskatchewan Rough Riders
Draftkings = $5,400/$50,000
TSN = $5,616/$40,000
Even if you plan on playing Streveler this week, the Roughriders can still be a viable pick at defence. I like them on both sites, but especially on DraftKings where Hamilton is ridiculously priced near $6,000. I prefer Hamilton on TSN where they are significantly cheaper as the fifth priced defence.
