With one week remaining, a once confusing CFL playoff picture is now mostly sorted out.
Only two West Division teams can swap their positioning.
While the East Division can only see a change in which of its bottom-feeders will acquire the first overall pick in the 2019 CFL Draft.
Each CFL Teams’ Current Position
The 12-5 Calgary Stampeders can earn first place and a first-round bye with a win in B.C.
While the 12-6 Saskatchewan Roughriders will be paying close attention to the Stampeders game before preparing for a home playoff game of their own.
Below the Stamps and Riders are the 10-7 Winnipeg Blue Bombers, who will finish in third place in the West Division.
And finally, the 9-8 B.C. Lions are stuck in the crossover spot (fourth in the West), or should I say blessed with it?
Out East, thanks to a three-game sweep of Hamilton, the 10-7 Ottawa Redblacks have clinched first place in the East Division.
Those 8-9 Hamilton Tiger-Cats will host the crossing over B.C. Lions on November 11.
As for the non-playoff teams, Mike Reilly’s underachieving Edmonton Eskimos will finish their season versus Winnipeg.
The 4-13 Toronto Argonauts will travel to Ottawa, and the 4-13 Montreal Alouettes will go to Hamilton, closing out the Argos’ and Alouettes’ seasons.
East and West Semi-final
As mentioned, the B.C. Lions will play the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the East Semi-final.
The Ottawa Redblacks will await the winner.
In the West, if Calgary beats B.C. on Saturday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers will play the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the West Semi-final.
If B.C. beats Calgary on Saturday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers will play the Calgary Stampeders in the West Semi-final.
Back up Quarterbacks in Action
With Winnipeg, B.C., Edmonton, Ottawa, and Hamilton locked into their current positions, many back up quarterbacks will likely take the field in Week 21.
Redblacks head coach Rick Campbell has already announced that starter Trevor Harris won’t place this week.
Eskimos head coach Jason Maas had announced that Mike Reilly will suit up for Edmonton on Saturday.
As for Winnipeg, B.C., and Hamilton, expect to see Chris Streveler, Jonathon Jennings, and Dane Evans and/or Bryant Moniz take snaps behind centre.
With Travis Lulay and other B.C. starters resting, all signs point to a Winnipeg-Saskatchewan West Semi-final.
The 2018 CFL playoffs start on November 11.
