2017 Pittsburgh Steelers Record Prediction

At the start of every season, it is fun to make your predictions, look back and see if the team was able to meet or exceed your expectations. For the Pittsburgh Steelers, expectations have to be high. The team knows they like their roster and is making last second moves to put them over the top. Will they work and can this team hold down the number one seed?

2017 Pittsburgh Steelers Record Prediction

Week One at Cleveland Browns

The Steelers essentially pencil the two Browns games in as wins until further notice. The Browns are getting better, but Ben Roethlisberger is 21-2 against the Browns and 10-2 in their own stadium. It is hard to predict a loss.

1-0

Week Two vs Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings defense should be tough but in a home opener, it is tough to think this offense can come in and score enough to get the win. Steelers should get the job done.

2-0

Week Three at Chicago Bears

This looks like a classic Steelers trap game. However, it is a game on prime time and on national television, which is one the Steelers almost always show up for. The offense should get going and the Steelers should roll.

3-0

Week Four at Baltimore Ravens

No matter how good the Ravens and Steelers are, this is going to be a close game. The Steelers usually lose at least one of these matchups, so in this case, it might as well be the away game.

3-1

Week Five vs Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars are an absolute mess on offense. Their defense is stout but the Steelers should be able to score enough, and will likely get some help from Blake Bortles to get the win.

4-1

Week Six at Kansas City Chiefs

This is going to be a tough game, and the Chiefs have already proven to be a difficult out. Still, the Steelers tend to play well against the Chiefs. They are 22-11 all-time, 5-1 in their last six and 3-3 in their last six at Kansas City. They can score and they should be motivated. The Steelers get by.

5-1

Week Seven vs Cincinnati Bengals

The Steelers own the Bengals. There is no way around it. It is tough to see them losing when they have won eight of their last 11 home contests with the Bengals.

6-1

Week Eight at Detroit Lions

The Lions are likely a team on the decline this year. They were incredible in close games and bound for regression in that category. This could very easily be one of those games that they won in 2016 but lost in 2017.

7-1

Week Nine BYE

Week 10 at Indianapolis Colts

The Steelers also have a very strong history in Indianapolis. They are 3-0 in their last three trips to Indianapolis. Andrew Luck may not even play this game and the Steelers should roll off of the bye week.

8-1

Week 11 vs Tennessee Titans

This is a tough sandwich spot. The Steelers see the Titans in between a road game and a major run of games with the Packers, Bengals, and Ravens looming. The team gets caught up a bit, Marcus Mariota shines given that relaxed look and the Titans wind up smacking the Steelers around a bit.

8-2

Week 12 vs Green Bay Packers

The Steelers show up for this game. The game goes back and forth and both teams get to 40, but the Steelers have the ball last and it is Martavis Bryant busting open a big play for the win.

9-2

Week 13 at Cincinnati Bengals

The Steelers have won the last four times in Cincinnati and have won seven of the last eight games. It is still tough to picture the Bengals getting one from this team.

10-2

Week 14 vs Baltimore Ravens

The Steelers now have revenge on their minds, and a chance to go on a run that makes the NFL world notice. Roethlisberger lights up the Ravens for a headline game and a statement win.

11-2

Week 15 vs New England Patriots

Until the Steelers beat the Patriots you cannot predict the Steelers to beat the Patriots. Tom Brady is 11-2 against the Steelers and he clearly has their number. It is doubtful that they are resting starters so this could be a game the Steelers lose.

11-3

Week 16 at Houston Texans

The Texans have a strong defense. They should be playing for a playoff spot at this point, and after the run, the Steelers went on, this game may mean little to nothing for them. The Texans could very well get by with a win here.

11-4

Week 17 vs Cleveland Browns

This is a throwaway game. Still, it could be a game the Steelers use to get back on track after a tough late season run. The starters may get enough time to marinate on a lead and finish up a 12 win season.

Final record: 12-4
