Russell Westbrook Passes Oscar Robertson with 42nd Triple-Double of the Season

History. Made.

Sunday night, the Oklahoma City Thunder played against the Denver Nuggets in a game that was most important to one player on the court: Russell Westbrook.

After being on the verge of posting triple-doubles in the Thunder’s past two games, Westbrook finally made history tonight against the Nuggets. He recorded his tenth assist of the night with just over four minutes left in the game to secure his 42nd triple-double of the season. In doing so, he passes Oscar Robertson for most triple-doubles in a single season. It’s been a historic season for Russell Westbrook, but will he win MVP?

Then, with the Thunder down two points with two seconds left, Westbrook made the game-winning three pointer at the buzzer to give OKC the win, 106-105.

Westbrook finished the history-making game with 50 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists.
