OTPP: Barclays Center Ice and Attendance Issues; and More

Last Word on Sports is proud to present their hockey podcast, On the Power Play with Ben and Dave. Join Ben Kerr and Dave Gove each week as they take a look around the Hockey World focusing on the big issues of the NHL and elsewhere.

The boys are back and looking at the news from around the NHL.

Barclays Center Ice and Attendance Issues

The boys look at the New York Islanders problems at the Barclays Center.  There has been some suggestion that the rink is not up to the NHL’s ice making standards and that this is causing problems early in the season. There are also concerns that the team is not drawing many fans to the building, despite having some success and a superstar in John Tavares.

Another team with attendance issues is the Ottawa Senators. Will they get a new downtown building? Or could they be on the move to Quebec City.

Craig Anderson

On a different note the boys look at what is going on with Craig Anderson, his abscence from the team to be with his wife Nicholle, and the acquisition of Mike Condon to give him a bit of a break.

The boys also look at the Los Angeles Kings. Can they make the playoffs this season? Do they need to make a big trade for a goalie. Or is this the year to look at reloading for 2017-18.

Another team suffering injuries is the Buffalo Sabres. Can they get through this and still make the playoffs?

All this and more as we go on the power play.
