Deanna Favre, Dom Capers to Induct Brett Favre, Kevin Greene in Hall of Fame

On Tuesday, the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced who would be presenting this year’s inductees.

This year’s inductees include a former Green Bay Packers quarterback, and a linebacker who did not play for the Pack, but coached their linebackers’ corps from 2009 until January 2014.

Brett Favre to be Inducted by wife Deanna

Deanna Favre will present her husband, Brett Favre during his induction. “Deanna is the best teammate I’ve ever had,” Favre said in a press release per NFL.com. “She has been by my side throughout this journey and I’m so excited that she gets to play such an important role for me.”

According to foxsports.com, the Favres have been together since high school, and got married in 1996.

Deanna Favre will soon become, just, the second wife to usher her husband in the Hall of Fame. Kim Singletary was the first wife to present her husband, Mike Singletary, for his induction in 1998.

Dom Capers to Induct Kevin Greene

Former St. Louis Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers, San Francisco 49ers, and Carolina Panthers outside linebacker, Kevin Greene will be inducted by Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator, Dom Capers.

Greene, and Capers first met in Pittsburgh in 1993. Capers was the Steelers defensive coordinator, and needed a fierce pass rusher to play in his 3-4 defensive scheme.

In 1996, Capers signed Greene, again, but this time it was as the head coach of the expansion Carolina Panthers. Ironically enough, the Panthers lost the NFC Championship Game at Green Bay.

Greene had some of his finest seasons playing under Capers. He recorded 14 sacks in 1994, and 14 ½ in 1996. Both seasons he led the NFL in sacks.

He became the linebackers coach in 2009, when Capers was promoted to defensive coordinator. He worked with Clay Matthews, Erik Walden, and Frank Zombo among others. Greene’s departure from coaching in January 2014 took the Packers coaching staff by storm.

“I went in and said, ‘I’m just going to step away.’ He had no idea it was coming, it was out of left field. My heart felt for him. I felt for the entire organization,” Greene told Pete Dougherty of USA Today-Network Wisconsin.

But, Capers is sure that Greene will find a job somewhere.

I’m sure you’ll see Kevin at some point in time back in the league coaching,” said Capers to Dougherty of USA Today-Network Wisconsin.
