For college basketball teams, a major goal of the regular season and conference tournament season is to get the Number 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Now, the goal is even better if reached.

The D1 men’s basketball committee has announced that the team that is the top overall seed will be able to choose the location for its first- and second-round games from the eight cities.

The goal for the number one seeded team is to pick the location closest to their “home.” It could result an even better home-court advantage than before. But, now, the pressure to have the best resume in college basketball has increased.  The goal here is to make the NCAA regular season, and the various conference tournaments even more meaningful. By providing real incentive for a team to be the best in the nation going into the tournament, the NCAA is hoping that it will make conference championship week even more exciting.
