YCCL Night 5: Photos and Individual Awards

The YMCA Capital City League continued its play on Sunday Night, which brought a new barrage of photos and individual honors that can be seen below. Full recaps can be found here.

Offensive MVP – Billy Wampler

Drake’s Billy Wampler had himself yet another nice night at Valley Southwoods, shooting 50% from the field, good for 34 points and leading Tim Vorland Photography to their fourth win on the season.

Honorable MentionMalachi Canada: Canada shot 11-17 from the the field (65 percent) and lead Phoenix Renewable Resources to a 12-point, comeback win.

“It was real good to score 28, I really never really care about how much points I score, I just like playing hard and as a team,” Canada said. “But what made us come back was how we stuck together, played together and made plays for each other offensively and defensively.”

Defensive MVP – Simeon Carter

Another player from from the Tim Vorland Photography squad takes defensive MVP honors for the night, as Simeon Carter lead all of the legue with two steals and three blocks on Sunday. He added 26 points and 12 rebounds in what was an all around great performance.

Team of the Night – Adio Chiropractic

After two of their players sweep the MVP awards for the night, one might think Vorland Photography would take the “team of the night” spot in these awards, but we’re pulling a fast one.

ADIO Chiropractic was firing off of all cylinders on Sunday when they upset the Des Moines Outreach Lions Club giving them their first loss of the season. Nick Babb went off for his third straight triple-double, and had 13 points as the lowest scorer on the team.

Luke Vaske shot a miraculous 7-9 on the night, all of which were three pointers and lead the team with 21 points.
