MLS Pick ‘Em 2016 – Week 13 – Columbus Crew SC v. Montreal Impact

Hey, we’re back! The MLS layoff has made all of us anxious to get back to picking games instead of our noses. Last time out, Colorado and Philadelphia left it late to draw 1-1. A score predicted by two of the experts. Here are the updated standings:

Player Points Correct Outcome Incorrect Correct Score
Eric Walcott 14 6 5 4
Joseph Goldstein 8 4 7 2
Matt Pollard 8 4 7 2
Russ McKenzie 5 3 8 1
Joe Hojnacki 4 2 9 1
Ned Joyce 4 2 9 1
Daniel Sperry 3 1 10 1
Laura McFayden 0 0 11 0

This week, the Montreal Impact travel to Mapfre Stadium to take on the Columbus Crew. The Crew have to start turning things around from their dismal start, and losing last year’s golden boot winner Kei Kamara. Montreal is challenging for a top spot in the East, but have gone on a mostly dry run of late, one win in their last five. Will Montreal make it two wins in a row, or will Columbus finally start looking like the Eastern champs many predicted they would be?

Eric Walcott

@EricWSoccer

MTL
(3-1)

Didier Drogba could have a field day against the Crew’s back four, and without Federico Higuain, Columbus will struggle to create going forward.

Russ McKenzie

DRAW
(1-1)

This match is the battle of the witless. Aside from Drogba heroics, this one is a snoozefest.

Ned Joyce

DRAW
(3-3)

A goal fest but this will end up a tie. Drogba will show up big and put on a classic Didier show.

Matt Pollard

@LWOSMattPollard

MTL
(2-0)

Drogba’s all rested after the Copa America break. Still don’t think the Crew solved all their problems by trading away Kei Kamara. And the defense could be a concern now. Drogba on a header. Ignacio Piatti creates something on the counter. 2-0 Impact.

Daniel Sperry

@LWOSDaniel

MTL
(5-3)

It was a goal fest last time, and it’s gonna be a goal fest this time. Columbus has been scoring goals, Finally. But their back line is giving up more goals as well. With the firepower Montreal has, combined with the Columbus back line, it’s a recipe for GOALS. And lots of them.

Joe Hojnacki

MTL
(2-0)

Even though Montreal’s defense will be a little short handed without Laurent Ciman around, Columbus will still struggle to score goals, regardless of any hope gained from their performance in the U.S. Open Cup. Meanwhile, Drogba gets a pair to lift Montreal to victory.

Laura McFayden

MTL
(4-10

There are problems in Columbus that didn’t stop at Kei Kamara and now that Higuain is out, the attack will be seriously lacking that creative push. The Impact and Drogba will put on a clinic. Whatevs.

Columbus is still figuring out their defense, and the Impact have had their number for a while during the regular season.
