Chelsea Offer John Terry A One-Year Contract Extension

On Friday, Chelsea FC confirmed that John Terry and his representatives met with Chelsea club director, Marina Granovskaia, this week as the club offer him a one-year contract extension.

Terry is considering this offer along with his family and will make a decision in due course.

John Terry made his first senior appearance in 1998 as a substitute in a League Cup tie with Aston Villa with his first start came later that season in an FA Cup tie against Oldham Athletic.

During his time with Chelsea, Terry has made over 700 appearances for the Blues with over 500 as team captain.

Chelsea fans were stunned when after the Blues  FA Cup tie away at MK Dons, Terry announced that Chelsea were set to release him in the summer when his contract was due to expire.

Gary Cahill had this week told Sky Sports how important it would be for Chelsea  to retain John Terry: It is difficult [to imagine the dressing room without him] No player is going to play on forever, and there comes a time where you have to move on, or retire, or move clubs, or whatever it is going to be. To achieve what he has achieved at this football club, and to achieve what he has achieved in his career, is phenomenal.

Chelsea have now put the ball back into Terry’s court, with Chelsea fans hoping he will make the decision to stay and see in yet another new era at Stamford Bridge.
