Indians' Pitcher Carlos Carrasco Heading to The DL

Cleveland Indians right handed pitcher, Carlos Carrasco, left Sunday's game with a left hamstring injury, and will undergo an MRI.

Indians RHP Carlos Carrasco left Sunday’s game with a left hamstring injury. He is headed to the disabled list. Carrasco (2-0, 2.45) will be out for a period of time.

The right-hander was covering first base on a ball hit from Andrew Romine to first baseman Carlos Santana in the third inning. Carrasco stepped on first and fell down in pain.

Carrasco will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine how severe the hamstring is. Carlos is a core member of the starting rotation who struck out 216 batters last season, and has a 2.45 ERA this season with 20 strikeouts and five walks in 22 innings.

A transaction will be coming on Monday. Left fielder, Michael Brantley, was flying to Minnesota ahead of the Twins/Indians series. Manager Terry Francona did not say if the left fielder would be activated.

The tribe will have a couple of options they can use. The could slide relief pitcher Trevor Bauer into Carlos’s spot if needed. The right-hander 3.1 innings and 64 pitchers while coming into relieve Santana.

Bauer gave up two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and a walk.
